A New Twist on a Runner

I made a Table Runner...

It was simple.. and fun to make.

The possibilities are really endless...

You could make it with all one fabric.. or a variety of prints.. or solids.

I added buttons...

And then I put this all in a box and mailed it to my swap partner today!

Hopefully everyone who joined the Quilters Day Swap has mailed their packages to their swap partners!! Tomorrow is the deadline to mail!

Don't forget to come back tomorrow for the Quiltmaker 100 Blocks Vol 5 Blog Tour.

I will have some awesome things to giveaway!! I will be drawing 4 winners and I have some pretty great prizes!

And the best part - I will be revealing my block!!

Giveaway Winners!

I almost forgot to draw 2 winners for the 100 Blocks Vol 5 Giveaway! How could I forget?!

Using Random.org....

The first winner is #27 Lisa who said "If I could only wear one color, it would be BLUE! I love almost every shade of blue and I realize that so much of my stash is blue. I am addicted to BLUE!"

And second winner is #72 Kim who said "I would definitely wear green."

I must say that BLUE was very popular. PURPLE seamed to be a close 2nd.

Send me your address and I will get these mailed out to you!!

Don't forget that next week is the Blog Tour for 100 Blocks Vol5. There will be a lot of giveaways and goods to be had. I have some great things to giveaway that you won't want to miss.

Are you my Friend?

In just 2 months, it will be 2 years since me and my family moved all the way from Arizona to Minnesota. Can you believe it's been 2 years? Where did the time go?

Anyway, in the two years we've been here, I have failed to find a local sewing/quilty friend. I've met people who sew.. but none of the actual friends I've made quilt at all.

So, I decided to take a leap. I joined a bus trip offered at my LQS in June. It's a one day trip down to Rochester MN for the MN State Quilt Show.

The only person I know that will be on the bus is the owner of the quilt store (The Quilted Dog). But I'm optimistic and a little pumped. This will be my first big quilt show and I can't wait!! It's June 16th.

Hopefully I will "connect" with someone on the trip. I do have some "friend" criteria though.. I don't care how young/old she is, but she must be easy going and not get offended easily. I have a pretty sarcastic sense of humor and can have a bit of a potty mouth sometimes. (Not at first of course)

My backup plan if I don't find a sewing / quilty friend soon - I'm going to have to teach one of my existing local friends to sew!!

Are any of you "locals" planning to go to the Minnesota Quilters Conference? If you are.. holla... I'd love to connect with you!!

Pillowcase Results..

Not quite yet.

I have all my pillowcases complete and I really wanted to show you them this morning. But I'm waiting for the Sun to shine! It's been cloudy for two days.. BUT, It's supposed to come out this afternoon.

So - in the mean time, while I run to Target and then take my youngest to a Birthday Party for a classmate, you have some extra time to get your blog posts up and pictures posted of your pillowcases or other FNSI results!!

When I return from the party - the Sun should be shining and I will get pictures posted. Although, after a party full of 8year old boys, I will probably look like this...

We will draw one winners name when I get back too!!

See you in a few hours!

Hold me Closer.. It's Gettin Dark...

So after a long day entertaining my boys at LazerZone (Laser Tag).. I dropped them off at home and decided to make the trip over the river and through the woods to one of my favorite quilt stores.

My plan was to get some good pillowcase fabrics for the April FNSI Conkerr Cancer Pillowcase drive.

It's been a cloudy, rainy & windy day. I had only been in the store about 5 minutes when all of a sudden.. it went dark. The only light was from a couple windows.. but not much at all.

There were only 2 other customers in there besides me. And we all got a good chuckle because the other two BOTH had flashlights in their purses.

Can you believe that? Do you carry a flashlight in your purse? I felt so inadequate.

We used their flashlights to light the cutting table so we could get our fabrics cut. I must say, this was a FIRST for me. It was pretty fun and funny! And, thank goodness I had cash on me - since the debit card machine wasn't working either.

Needless to say - even in the dark I managed to get quite a bit of fabric.

These are all for pillowcases. A lot of my fabrics were even on the "sale" table. SCORE!

I have no idea why this picture turned sideways. Its the only flannel that I bought. I thought it might be good for an outdoorsy teen boy. Very "Minnesota" with the deer, moose and bear. It's very soft.

And this is my favorite - The Jetson's. Do you remember The Jetson's? This was my all time favorite cartoon as a kid! I'm singing the theme song right now as I type this!!

Anyway - I'm getting a head start on my pillowcase sewing this weekend.

We are so grateful for all of you who are participating in this months Friday Night Sew-In. These pillowcases go together so quick and will definitely put a smile on someones face!
